Wotlankor walks into the auditorium.
Grumblings can be heard but here and there a smile creeps into the eyes of former fleet mates.
Zoolkhan can be seen sitting half covered in shadows, his Khumaak tied to his back as always during official war times. Even Paddington has reactivated his pod license. Small nods are exchanged.

Wotlankor walk to the middle of the auditorium and face the council.

Greetings all

Intercision hereby request to be adobted into the warrior ranks.

We are a very small corporation, but we have the skills and dedication to make this a stable and good addition to whatever form Ushra’Khan will take after the rebuild.

We are small but believe we can make an impact.
We do not ask for counsil seats.
We do not ask for space.
We do not ask for moons.

We ask for the chance to bring back to Ushra’Khan what was lost.
If for nothing else we will fight for and with you till what was lost is gained back.
After the dust settles we may be deemed unworthy to continue in the alliance and we shall leave, but give us the chance to prove ourself in battle alongside the people we call friends and have shed blood with.

I know there will be voices heard of warriors who may not have a vote but who through valor have bigger impacts than mere votes. They will vouch for us.

For where can a new warriror clan prove their worth if not on the field, back to back with fellow warriors?

Silence follows as Wotlankor walks out and the voting can comense behind closed doors.

With Ombey back in the CEO seat Intercision has been cleaned up and purged. Juturna had just completed her first jump when he hailed me on the neo-com. We talked of the recent development and though we disagree on whether it is for good or worse we showed same resolve in helping the corporations that got kicked from Ushra’Khan get back on their feet. If they accept Intercision then I will rejoin Intercision as a director and help purge Hydra from Providence.

Knowing Hydra back when Ushra’Khan were allies to them I am convinced they did not do this for ISK or material purposes. They simply want a fight and get the associated fame of bringing the oldest alliance down. So far they have achived the fame partly. Only partly because everyone know they really had no hand in it and only got the alliance name offered through Tarac Nor. They will of cource derive some fame in the aftermatch that are to come.

Ushra’Khan may in name be under new management but Ushra’Khan as an idea lives on.  When thinking or mentioning Ushra’Khan I think of the corps that was kicked out, they are Ushra’Khan. Not some document or form in a Concord office. That document so far is the same as Hydra.

The station and area I found myself in was buzzing with trafic. From where I stood I had a good panorama view over the hangar. A hurricane was undergoing mantainance, the previous markings could no longer be seen but a new Ushra’Khan fist was starting to grow on the side. Checking the hangar log brought up names not seen around providence for some time. I stood there for a good hour before I realised that I was staring at the Ushra’Khan tribal logo and realised it was custom made for the comming campaign.

The spirit of the warriors are still high…

The corp had been formalized and everything was ready to go. The new office decorated, communication channels set up and recruitment procedures in place.

I was sitting in the new office making the final draft for the recruitment poster that was to be distributed. We had worked hard the last month and a half and were very happy with the result.

The holo screen flickered but I was not paying attention. What was that about Ushra’Khan ?

I lifted my eyes from the paperwork and slowly the news dawned on me. Tarac Nor, a person I had trusted had gone and shoplifted Ushra’Khan and not only that, he had transfered Concord documented control to HYDRA. That person was though a middleman also a co-director in our newly formed corporation Intercision. The plan was that he was waiting on a delivery of a Nyx and then would have joined Intercision. I had just gotten confirmation that the Nyx had been delivered and that he would quit Ushra’Khan.

A quick emergency meeting revealed that Tarac Nor had the support of quite a few of the pilots in Intercision. It ended in a heated argument with his supporting pilots yelling at me that I could piss off to Concord controlled space and mine if I could not stand the heat.

I went to the nearest bar to think this over. It did not take long to reach the conclusion that the relationship in the corp was ruined and with the things that had been said we would be unable to built a corporation on that foundation. Ombey was planetside so I had no clue what his reaction would be.

I started making calls ind order to get a clearer picture of the politics involved.

I felt partly responsible. Two months back, just before leaving Ushra’Khan, Tarac Nor had voiced that he would think it funny to empty the NKB corp hangar. I told him that I would not condone such actions and asked him to leave such thoughs behind and if he ever did such things against any entity I would never want to hear or know of it. He put it off and I wrote it off as a fustration with the current development in Ushra’Khan which had initially sparked the idea to form Intercision and go into what Concord labeled Faction Warfare. Truth proved to be much much worse.

Having gotten a clearer picture I called the local concord officials and informed them that they were to remove any roles tied to my pod licence. They confirmed that in 24 hours I would be released of roles in the official Concord database and would be ready for transfer to wherever I wanted to head out.

I then called the docking manager Scotty.

“Scotty please prepare Juturna, with a complete compliment of combat ships.”

There would be my Megathron ready for combat the moment Juturna docked as well as a compliment of  Sabres, a Falcon, a Guardian, a Vagabond, a few Interceptors and enough equipment for an additional 4-5 battleships.

“Yes sir.” came the quick and dry reply.

Time to reflect and contemplate. I had no clue what corp to join yet and even if they would have me. I had not heard from Ombey yet but hoped he would understand and join me for a month of campaigning mercenary style. If not then we would likely meet up a month or two from now and see where we were respectively.

I kinda liked the idea of joining as a mercenary auxiliary with no commitment other than bringing firepower for a periode. A single carrier that could deploy firepower anywhere. Back to the basics. Back to mercenary action.

[OOC] This is an unfinished tale of the bravery and combat that took place during the final eviction of Paxton Federation where they fought often outnumbered and with a determination that has to be recomended. Local held likke smack and lots of GF’s. The story was never finished as I took a small break from EvE shortly after due to RL stuff. Nothing major, just life catching up every now and then :) Who knows if I will ever finish it, but The loader is still part of the crew and is still operating the guns of various ships.

Enjoy what little was written…

The sweat ran down the mans forehead and mixed with blood comming from a small scar above the left eye. It lingered for a brief moment in his eyebrow before a small pearl broke loose and ran down the nose. Four more reddish pearls ran down the nose and formed a drop that spilled to the floor. Next to the small pool of sweat and blood on the floor was 56 Null L charges. There would be no second loading of the longrange special ammo. Most of the Federation Navy Antimatter was gone as well and last resort would be a pile of 2300 rounds of regular anti-matter that had been looted from an enemy Megatron that passed within 2,5 km. A qucik search of the wreck in the heat of battle had secured the ammunition.

He could not feel his legs and his hands was humming with the effort of keeping the blasters operational. He turned his right hand over in his lap and looked at where his middle finger once had been. He smiled at the roughness of his hand, smeared in oil and hydraulic fluid as it was. Six hours earlier he remembered his shirt had been whole and in general he had felt in better shape than his current condition.

The ship was newly build and had not seen battle. It was designed and rigged with the modules needed for closerange warfare. Next to it was a an identical hull but it had the 425mm railgun mounted. The owner of these large and powerfull ships had a full crew for the, for lack of better definition, “425mm ship”. The owner however had no crew for this blaster fitted monster.

The man looked at the que for the crew sign-up. Navigators, engineers, warp drive operators, welders, robot handlers and medical crew was all to be found waiting in line leading up to the ramp of the ship. He inhaled one more time on his handrolled cigarette, threw it away and joined the file of men and women seeking employment.

After an almost three hour wait he was at the table. The person sitting there was obviously of Caldari origin. He had heard of the Captain before. Apparently the Captain had come to Ushra’Khan as a mercenary but had for some reason overstayed his contract. Eventualy he had become a diplomat for the Ushra’Khan but besides his desk duties still performed active combat.

A personel officer was sitting next to the Captain.

“Profession?” the personnel officer asked.

“Gunner.” the man answered.

“Grade?” the personnel officer asked.

“2nd.” the man answered.

“Place your right hand in the scanner, insert your ID card in the slot and look into the eris scanner.”

The man did as told. A small needle penetrated his hand in 3 random places drawing a little blood. The blood would be checked against the ID and the eris, modelling the full dna profile vs CONCORD archives as well as internal Ushra’Khan databases.

The personnel officer looked up briefly. Their eyes met. The personnel officer raised an eyebrow and  a nod with his head indicated for the man to board the space ship.

“What was that about?” Asked the Captain.

“His DNA is almost perfect for a pod pilot and his ability to interface with a pod would work, only it would be a “wet grave” if he ever hooked up to a ship interface. This is as close you can come to being a podpilot without actually getting there. There were several cases of “wet graves” back in the old days before the gene that caused it was mapped correctly. Back then the Jovians had already manipulated their genes so it was no hindrance, but other bloodlines and races all had defects within their genepool so in fact only few can attain the podpilot status” The personnel officer explained.

“Aha, I see” The Captain said.

The man entered the briefing room and was met by the buzzing sound of hundreds of people making small talk conversation. It was a special room inside the ship that the Captain had had designed and not part of the regular layout of a Megathron battleship. The Captain liked to give a small speech to the crew explaining the political, strategic and tactical situation as well as what was expected of the crew before embarking on a mission or operation.

The man took an available seat in the gunnery section of the auditorium and prepared for the enviable wait. Hours passed as more people joined the ones that were already seated.

Finally the Captain showed up and walked to a small podium.

“We march on soldiers of the Ushra’Khan” His voice bellowed, clearly magnified by some hidden speaker system.

“Today we invade the system of MH9, the very home of Paxton Federation. PXF has for a long time stood against Ushra’Khan and its allies and is the last of the Holder alliances to hold space in Providence. The fight today is likely to draw in whatever allies they have left in the area including the still numerous CVA.”

“We will be jumping into a yet undisclosured system next to MH9 and then jump in to MH9. This will likely happen under heavy fire from the PXF/CVA fleet.”

There was a short silence as the Captain looked over the ranks.

“Yes, there will be casualties and we may go down in flame but we will try our damnest to keep ourself and our fleet buddies alive through our Remote Repair systems.”

The man did not need to be told of casualties, he knew all of it. Like a hive the individual dies to keep the fleet intact and in fighting condition.

“Once in we will engage the Ihub and reinforce this. We may ro may not be attacking a starbase to take down a cyno jammer.”

The Captian looked over the crowd and had the ability to make it seem that he looked each in the eye in turn.

“May the missiles fly straight and blasters hit true. To your stations troops.”

Everyone got up and filed out under the thunderous murmur that usually engulf a crowd where everyone chatter a little higher than the guy next to him.

The man took his station next to the blaster gun that would be his station, 9 more were at the monster blaster making up the team that would make sure the gun would run smoothly under operation. The man slipped under the metal bar and into the seat of the exo skeleton robot. He ran a quick diagnostic of the robot that encapsuled him as the big ship left the hangar. The undock point was crammed with over 100 ships trying to clear the station.

As the megathron alignd for the starbase that would be the staging point the man engaged the magnetic feet of the exo skeleton robot. It always gave a littke jerk when the robot “snatched” into place. There was ofcource the artificial gravtial field inside the ship. It was sufficient for everyday operation and could hold a person in place, but a large robot in a combat environment needed the extra grip.

The man flexed his mechanic muscles and nodded to the others around the gun. There was no need for words for two reasons. First and foremost, if people did not know what to do they would not be there. Second, the life expectancy of the gunners was low and superstition surrounded every aspect of the job. General chatter “at station” was considered bad luck. The 1st Grade gunner looked around at his team. A mechanical camera made it out for his left eye and a rather advanced mechanical arm had taken the place of his left underarm. Streaks of scared flesh covered the entirety of the left side of his face and the skin tissue of his upper left arms was a complex pattern of dark brown streaks mixed with small pools of white. The tell tale signs from an Amarrian laser breaching the hull integrity was never pretty.

There were 4 3rd grade gunners on each side commanded by the 1st grade gunner on one side and the 2nd grade gunner on the other. There were no women on the team either, again superstition was the main factor and although there were supposed to be “equality” on the ship, the personnel officers were well aware of the complications that could arise and women were consequently discarded for various fabricated reasons if they were to apply for such a position.

From the gunnery hatch the man could see the ships coming out of warp and approaching a Titan class vessel. He had not even noticed the ship entering and coming out of warp 10 kilometers from the titan. He remembered as a kid when sitting on his dads lap hearing the tales of intergalactic travels. There had always been sounds of “SWOOSH” or “SWOOOMP” and other sounds that supposedly accompanied a warp across a system. If there was a sound he had never heard it so he always mentally made the sound whenever he actually noticed the ship entering and coming out of warp.
More and more ships joined the fleet and smaller support ships had also showed up now. There was the usual wait as well as a battleship crossing shield with the titan causing the ships to rotate.

“Stand by for bridge” the voice of some relay officer sounded in his ear snail.
“This is your captain speaking. We will bridge out on a gate, jump though it and enter combat. Primary will be the deployed large bubble. Battle stations!”

Dull and slowly rotating lights started to emit a red light.

Being bridged however does make a sound or is it sensation? The feeling compares best to getting a kick in the guts and then suddenly missing the stomach and being hungry at the same time.
The ship approached the gate and jumped as soon as it got in range.

Everything went silent…

The man was dimly aware of the hull vibrating as the sensor modules powered up, readying for combat and taking in its surrounding. In an instant the ship came to life and decloaked with the rest of the fleet. The ship was hit by the active sensors of 100’s of ships, friendly and enemy alike as everyone fought to get tactical awareness. There were enough micro and radar waves crossing space to fry a medium sized animal.

“Full speed ahead. Engage the microwarpdrive. Primary the Bubble probe. Drones in bay. Align at…”

The huge guns went to work, first shot was already loaded and as soon as the sensors locked the probe the charge was fired. The hydraulic sent the ton heavy slug on its way and in one smooth motion ejected the cartridge into space.

“LOAD!” Called the 1st Grade Gunner.

A large Null slug was transported by the man and his crew, via a slider in the loft from the stock, where they were stored in huge racks, to the gun, while the 1st Grade Gunner and his team was working the hatch and hydraulic.

“LOADED!” Called the man as the hatch slammed shut.

The huge short barreled gun propelled the slug at the anchored warp probe with a force that vibrated the ship.

“LOAD!”

The sound of the shield generators was slowly rising as the Megathron came under fire from small support vessels and the generator was trying to compensate the decline in shield power. The humming became almost unbearable when max recharge rate was reached and overcome by the incoming fire.

As one more Null round went off the siren sounded alerting everyone that the shield was about to collapse. It was not ground for panic and was expected in a ship that was designed to resist attacks with it thick armor. However it did mean that there was about to be “rocking of the boat” as the crew called it, as armor hits did not have the deflective and absorbing capabilities of the shields.

“INCOMMING!”

The enemy close support closed in and engaged, their primary objective to hold our fleet in place while their main sniper fitted battleships took turkey shots from 130 km above. The shield generator humming went low and was quickly replaces by the crawling sound of nano robots swarming in to repair the damage being dealt.

The warp disrupt probe exploded in a firework that illuminated the fleet and hurt the eyes as electro pulses and waves clashed. The man could hear the explosions and estimated that the rate that the armor was hit it would hold. Another ship to the starboard was less lucky and exploded in thousand bits.

The ship yanked hard to the left and the warpcores started up.

“Stand by for close range combat” the Captains voice sounded in his ear snail.

“BRACE!”

The fleet warped directly into the enemy sniper fleet. Metal hit metal as many of ships collided and the two fleets got toe to toe.

“TARGET! FIRE ALL GUNS. ENGAGE DRONES.”

The ship gentely rocked as an enemy Brutix exploded nearby. The scan resolution finally calculated the enemy megathron that was called primary and a single volly was sent into its hull that burst into a sub gravity firework. The pace picked up as the enemy fleet tried to run away. An enemy Apocalypse glided by and the megathron send out a disruption signal that rendered it microwarp drive and warpcore useless. The man could see the heavy drones go to work on the shield as a new primary, also an apocalypse, was called. The heavy neutron blasters were ripping through the fragile armor of the sniper fitted ships. The starlit sky was illuminated by one interdiction bubble after another going up around the ships as the enemy tried to break free of the deadly embrace.

“HOLD” Shouted the 1st Grade Gunner.

Almost complete silence followed, only sound hearable was the chirping of the electronic counter sinals being emitted from the ship and the hissing as the hydraullic tubes came to rest, the guns slowly assuming their initial “safe” position.

The man had sweat run into his eyes and whiped his forehead with the back of his hand. He had seen his share of battle but not of this magnitude and not so desicive. The enemy wrecks littered the field. The heat in the gunnery section was intense and the hummidity killing.  The smell of the gun charges mixed with exhaust gasses from various machinery. A sharp smell. The smell of home to the man.

The ship turned at the order of the captain and headed for the IHUB located in the system.

“This is your captain speaking. We will land at the IHUB and create a diversion. We expect the enemy to warp in at range and take shots at us. We must remain vigilant and ready to respond to our covert-Ops probing them down.”

The man was not used to this level of information but the captain expected the crew to perform and therfore have some idea of what was about to happen.

The ship came out of warp 10 km from the IHUB and lit it up.

The man started working the machinery again as the blasters spoke the language of violence.

The Falcon stopped in space and took in the scenery.
Lightning fast Dramiels, Interceptors and Heavy Assault Ship where buzzing about the the large beast that for the moment were holding the smaller ships at bay. Space was thick with electronic charges from the warp drive activation of another beast that had managed to escape the hornests sting.
By no means was the Thanatos carrier class out of the fight but would soon be when Ushra’Khan joined the frey and thereby putting sufficient strain on it huge pulsating armor repairers.

“Warp in ready, engage at will” I called.

15 seconds later Nosenhojh landed in his Machariel , Makk in his Raven, Meera in her Tempest, Bournville in her Brutix and Malchick in his vagabond. GENOS had gotten a domi ready as well that would be the capacitor neutralizer.

The small fleet attacked with renewed strength and the armor started to take significant damage. in the mena time a warp bubble was set up between the carrier and the local Station in Y-M so if any help arrived they would land far of the main fight.

I started moving towards the bubble to get ready for incomming support. It arrived 4 minutes later in the shape of a Dominix and a Myrmidon. The Falcon tuned in to their sensors and emitted the counter signals. I got the satisfying response that the operation was succesfull. A game of electronics were on and my computer calculated a cycle of 20 before the jamming code was broken and new counter signals should be emitted. The smaller ships swarmed the Battleship and Battlecrusier that were quickly dispatched.

For sake of the Concord records I swtiched over to the Thanatos and fired off a jam single cycle but knew it would not be enough to overcome the systems of the large ship.

Another 5 minutes and the ship exploded in a satisfying firework of colour and metal debris.

I turned my ship away from another slaughter of providence dwellers and turned home to my base system of Esa. I had for more than a month led small gangs and solo raids into and around Providence while the mainstay of Ushra’Khan was moving into our new space. hundreds of ships had payed the highest price. Some of the losses the enemy took was uncalled for and only due to bad policies on behaviour during wars.

Orca 1 (yes they were BPOs)

Orca 2

A message was waiting when I arrived. It was from Karn and Seliah that demanded my precence back in our new systems. With a sigh I mentally went over my hangar and arrived at a Taranis would be the better option for a quick travel through hostile space.

I programmed the navigation computer and set off. On my way I passed several large groups of AAA battleships heading for GE-.

I had ofcourse heard rumors of BoB rising as IT Alliance and had begun an invasion and the numbers of ships and normal rumor mill at the bars indicated that AAA was about to make a move but as to the extend of the move it was unclear.

I arrived well in V2-VC2 and got did the hangar approach on manual mostly for fun as it is always a good laugh to fly a little reckless in confined space of a station hangar.

I made my way towards the NKB hangar, greeting and meet new faces as well as old ones. They all seemed a bit baffled that I had “found time to show up”. I replied to witty comments and exchanged a few for fun blows which for my part resulted in a sprained wrist and some blue marks, where as I dont think the Brutors even noticed my rather hard blows to their arms and shoulders.

NKB Main Office, the sign read out loud. Well you cant call Brutors for dreaming, inventive or particualr creative in their sign text. To the point and not much else.

As I walked in I passed Draak Noir on his way out. I was met by Karn and Seliah who both seemed to be in a fine mood.

“Welcome Wotlankor, have a seat please.” Karn said in his guttural voice. “Please” comming from Karn sounds more like an order to stand at attention. I took my seat and took in the scenery.

The obligatory styrofoamcups where shattered so randomly it looked like a planned distribution. Coffe rings were en masse to be found on the right side of the main terminal on the table. Over the main officechair facing whoever came in hung 3 large slaverhound skulls polished till they shone and below them the Ushra’Khan battle standard and the Black NKB clan banner with the orange cross and circle.

“Seliah is leaving as head of the Ushra’Khan diplomacy.” Karn stated and continued “Draak has been appointed as new head of diplomacy. That leaves and empty seat in the junior ranks which you will fill.”

I was taken slightly aback cause ive never been a very diplomatic person and haddone most negotiation at gunpoint in my pod behind thick armor and shields. Karn, however left little room for arguing and Seliah was just standing there smiling.

“That will be all Wotlankor, you may return to your station…” He lingered for a moment as if there were more to come… “Your station will be in your battleship tonight as we will be announcing a Call To Arms and join our allies AAA in an invasion of 49-”

“Roger that Sir” I replied and took my leave with a heap of documents and procedures regarding diplomatic relations. A viciously looking data card had the title “Textbook for Dummies on Intergalactical Diplomatic Relations, Language end Etiquette.”

I shuddered to fill my head with such nonsense but it seem I had just gotten and internal relocat… promotion.”

The aula was dead silent except for Xious voice booming as he explained how the future campaign was to be executed and one could almost cut through the anticipation. I looked around the Aula. Gone were the large drums and banners. The setting now was clean and orderly compared to when we declared war against CVA and their cronies.

Semi translucent images flicked in full 3D as Xious showed how the new CONCORD sanctioned system worked with system control and how new fleet procedure were to be implemented to counter bombers.  It was a fresh new world. I for one welcomed the new world where the Battleships did not have to fit to counter 3 Doomsday activations. On the other hand you could have 12 small ships laying waste to an entire fleet if they executed perfectly, but it took skill and coordination where as the Titans used to rule with the single push of a button. Better logistics had also been trained vigorously and though there did not seem much glory in fly the small logistic vessels they had quickly become a dominant and decisive factor on the battlefieladn every pilot in a fleet cherished the little critters when amor or shield suddenly sprang to life and changed a sure loss to a fully functional ship again.

Xious wished us good luck and the aula erupted in cheers and roars. One can ecpect only so much dicipline from Minmatars.

The big Battleships fired up their engines as we embarked on our mission.

I’m on my second week of patrolling Sylph controlled space in my vagabond. Activity in all sectors is at an all time low. I see more Ushra’Khan, AAA and Red Overlord gangs than I see Sylph. The constant war has taken it toll and internal turmoil has left Sylph alliance a shadow of its former self. Wrecks, bended steel and frozen corpses are shattered around at the different gates.

My last entry marked a downfall for Sylph which I am curious to see if they can recover from. The POS in high sec which we led the assault on belonged to RennTech. A long term member to Sylph as well as one of those corps every alliance have that form some sort of backbone. The alliance did not come to RennTech’s aid as RennTech had come to theirs and as a result RennTech left Sylph Alliance taking some 100 active pilots with them.

Latest Center For High Times who struggled on alone against overwhelming odds and had put up a stubborn defense of their empire trade routes had to fold the flag as well. They performed very well but in the end had to resort to using neutral unmarked ships to deploy remote repair modules and set up traps where their ships laid powered down and waited for a well tanked ship to be attacked. A sad end that enemies have to resort to such desperate measures.

Last but not the least is Mr. Bill’s Consortium, who joined Sylph only to find the promised gold at the end of the rainbow filled with big sharp teeth and wearing the bloody hand of Matar. The aftermath of that is still in the making as a CEO or director apparently felt that Sylph had been less than truthful and he emptied the corp hangar and left to make his fortune elsewhere. I find it interesting that Sylph is not forward and open about what new corps joining walk into.

In all Sylph has gone from a 1000+ member strong alliance to a 400 man ghost alliance where you seldom see them in actual space and when they do undock it is only to travel along the Jumpbridges for fear of what waits at the stargates.

In the mean time Ushra’Khan has grown by almost 200 pilots and crossed the 1000 member mark a week ago or so. Ushra’Khan has taken space in Catch, set up jump bridges of their own and in general settled in. This was shortly disrupted by the alliance H4X0R who thought it wise to prove their worth to the Providence block by invading Immensea. About the same time as we took down the POS in the Tash-Murkon area H4X0R made their move. Swiftly came the response from AAA and Atlas. Ushra’Khan mobilized to reinforce and  take down several towers as well as declare war and mobilize our empire war forces. The campaign was executed with ruthless efficiency and as you read this the realities of war is looking H4X0R straight in the eye. Half the population of the alliance has left and the rest is being hunted mercilessly all over New Eden. Daily patrols roam the high traffic space lanes as well as the bounty Offices of the major empire corporations. Latest intelligence updates indicate that H4X0R is holding on to their last outpost in FYI-49 while the rest of their systems was removed over a 2 day period, CJNF-J 2009-10-05, GXK-7F 2009-10-04, EA-HSA 2009-10-03, WYF8-8 2009-10-03.
I’m not sure what is holding the fleet back from taking the last system, nor do I care much as my main occupation is Sylph controlled space in Catch.
Ushra’Khan has multiple focuses at the moment but with H4X0R out of the way and the new space occupied and infrastructure in place we can get back to having a single objective.
CONCORD and most of the major alliances have proclaimed changes in the treaties that govern the ownership of systems. This will be instated in 6 weeks. Till then we are awaiting orders from the council and if I have any say those 6 weeks should be used to put additional pressure on Sylph and move into their systems in numbers which they have never seen before.

They shall die alone, hunted and within sight of their Stations, Jump bridges and Star gates, screaming in vain as no one comes to their defense.

There I were minding my own business. I was sitting at a table doing an interview with a new possible recruit when the call came in for more pilots needed to finish the job we started on 2 days earlier. I politely concluded the interview with Murdah and headed for the POD bays. The fleet had already disembarked and were making slow progress towards Paye.

Being slowly lowered into the ship I smiled. It had been a while since I joined the Ushra’Khan that Ive had time for real Battleship work. Obligations have kept most of my activities to running Kari pipe interdiction.

The crew was exhalted too and some even were singing as the ship raced to catch up with the main fleet. I used the well laid out AAA Jumpbridge system and managed to get in touch with the main fleet just as they jumped into Keberz.

12:37 Catching up with Fleet.

As we moved trough the CONCORD partolled space I noticed I had two wingmen I seemed to warp in unison with every time. Eleniel Octere in her Apocalypse and Pete X in his Tempest. Only one of us would be in our original ship at the end of the day. Once again we made a quick stop in Agil for supplies before we moved off again. Ugleb was in his Phoon next to me and leading the fleet was Sapphrine in a Rokh.

Witout any events we eventualy reached our destination and opened fire on the declawed Starbase, which Sylph once again did not feel like defending.

At one point a manticore started to move toward the edge of the shield. “SPIKE AND RESOLUTION” I called over the intercom. “Loading” came the swift reply from the munitions master shortly followed by the electronic engineer that informed that the sensor boosters were re-calibrated for fast locking.

The manticore slip out from the shield and started a slow turn. “KAZUNG” sounded the 425mm guns as the recoil was absorbed by the hydraulic and the manticore took a single shell that simply went right through shield, armor and hull. I don’t know why he opted to slow boat out instead of warping off and cloaking. Considering the ammunition he has loaded I can only guess he was newly trained as the manticore has a perfectly good missile subsystem that support kinetic damage dealing weapons.

I resumed shooting the Starbase and watched as Akikio’s Raven painted trails of fire with his cruisemissiles.

Not long after the Starbase exploed and the plillaging began with low life and scavengers warping in under the protection of CONCORD.

We lifted some  modules and left while blowing up some of the modules so the scavengers did not get them.

When we were satisfied we formed up and prepared for the return home. Rumor was that AAA were engaging CVA forces in the system of 2J. Although heavily outnumbered the 90 ship strong AAA fleet had already traded shots with the more than double size hostile fleet but had to pull out eventualy as numbers in these kinds of battles are a quality in their own respect.

Sapphrines voice sounded over the fleet channel: “Pilots, AAA is engaged in 2J and have tried to take down the cyno jammer. They number 90 ships and are facing a 200+ Providence fleet. Ushra’Khan will hook up with AAA and even the numbers.”

A quick look at our fleet of 75 ships meant that roughly 165 of ours would be facing around 210 of theirs. Acceptable odds.

Our fleet started to make best speed towards Agil and HED-. It became apparent that we were unable to hook up with AAA in 2J- so AAA bridged in a Titan for us to use, meaning we would land in F4R and get into propper sniper ships.

We got ready in ZXIC-7 while AAA got in position on the ZXIC gate in 2J.

At 15:15 the AAA fleet warped in on the ZXIC gate and Ushra’Khan jumped in as CVA landed.

We waited with backheld breath, waiting for the sensors to recalibrate. Overview cleared and the hostiles ships loaded on the screen. An unluckyship made a wrong turn and lost the jump-in cloak.

Bubbles went up, alignment commands were called and the space were filled with death a destruction. Ugleb had changed from his Phoon into a sniper tempest that lasted 10 second under the immense fire laid upon it. My ship took a full 45 seconds to calibrate before I got in on the target calling and took down the first ship to fall victim to my 425mm guns.

The fleet commander was frantic screaming for interdictors to bubble the hostile fleet as they warped out as soon as they took damage where as the Ushra’Khan fleet only could stick it out as we were bubbled and being picked off.

I got tackled by a rifter and feared I would be called primary but as luck would have it the combination of my Warrior II drones and Harlequin D’Earth in his Hurricane made short work of it. With nothing better to do I send my drones after a Stealth Bomber.

“CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIGADE” Amith Silvermoon yelled proclaiming the arrival of the Ushra’Khan light skirmish fleet that charged at the enemy !

For 15 minutes the fight swayed back and forth as the fleets fought for supremacy. I saw hostile Brutix micro warp driving towards a sniper ship and desided that it was time for Taarn Torayson of the Paxton federation to return to his clone vat bay. It was a disregard of fleet orders as battleships are not to engage smaller ships unles specificly told to do so but if he was blaster fited he posed a treath to my fellow fleet pilots.

The result was a victory for our slightly outnumbered fleet as we held the field and took in the screnery.

Our  fleet formed up slowly. Exhaust and steam vented into space from the ships that had taken damage.

15:35 We formed up on the local AAA Starbase and regrouped. Preparing to take down the Cyno jammer located near planet 3.

We had made several warp ins on the Starbase but only managed to do insignificant damage and picking of a stragler here and there. I noticed Pete X next to my ship once again. We saluted by turning on and off the external lights on the ships.

One and a half hour later it became clear that we would not be able to take on the Providence fleet with what we got. Ushra’Khan had taken heavy losses at the ZXIC gate and Providence on the other hand had recieved reinforcements.

Last shot was fired at 16:36 at an Eos that by mistake had seperated off the main Providence fleet. I smiled as my Caldari Navy Antimatter slugs helped transform his ship into a wreck of twisted metal.

We are at a stalemate. Status is being reviewed as we currently are down to 140 ships in various degrees of working condition.

18:48 and 6 Hours of duty… This reminds me of my younger days in KIA.

The fleet commander calls a regroup at 20:00. Our fleet warps to the ZXIC gate and jumps out just as the Providence fleet bubbles us and tries to warp in on us.

They did not feel keen on entering ZXIC as no cyno jammer meant no protection from the Titans. I told my crew to get some food, rest or whatever when we were at teh Starbase.

We regroup already at 19:38 and meet up with AAA at the 2J gate. Our leet is at 200 and we are facing a Providence fleet of 350. We are ready to jump in when all of a sudden the sensors register a spike in ships.

In warps the cavalry in the shape of 100 Atlas ships making the two fleets almost equal.

19:40 The fleet jump in and hold cloak. Buggs is unlucky and gets decloaked and that sparks for the rest of the fleet to decloak so we can get reps on him. Whatever few hostiles there is not interested in engaging. I wonder why they set up all these bubbles and then utter fail to use the oppertunity of having us all unable to warp out where as they could do so and make repping runs on us.

We proceed to the Starbase we used previously. Tension is so thick you can cut in it.

We align for the hostile Starbase at Planet 3. I run diagnostics to check everything is ready. I get some misreadings. The ship is in working condition but the fihgting has taken it toll and more than once have I needed repairs from the Guardians at the friendly Starbase. You will hold, I tell it mentally.

19:49 I yell “CHARGE !!!!” and the hostile Starbase is engaged as our fleet open fire. My mind plays a tune of it own.

19:50 The fleet is in perfect order asw e start working on the Cyno jammer that has been repaired since our former battle. I take some minor damage from the defencive structures but nothing serious.

19:52 The hostile fleet warp in on us.

The battle of 2J starts and I run the procedure of locking the primary as well as reloading guns. I know that with so many ships it will take time before we are able to lock and fire and I might as well have full guns. We are a bit too spread out for my taste. things start to pace up.

(Large)

19:53 The first shots are fired as Atlas warp in at distance. Gunners are working as fast as they can.  Target calling is loud and clear as we are working our way through the hostile fleet in alphabetic order of pilot names.

(Large)

19:55 Atlas warp in and we get Providence fleet into a crossfire, bubbles go up all over the place. A ship explode next to me and I can hear the debris hitting my structure and bouncing off.

19:56 Dog fights break out as the support ships of Ushra’Khan try to clear a path for our interdictors. Many a brave crew die in the process of holding down the hostile fleet. I don’t think about the terrified crew aboard the vessels I send to the eternal scrap heaven.

19:58 I have fallen behind and must use my microwarpdrive to catch up with the main fleet and the security of remote repairing.

19:59 Providence ships have spotted my mistake of not flying formation and two tacklers engage as I release drones. I can feel the crew is anxious as the warp core reports its functionality has stopped. To my rescue comes Tizian Enel in her Hurricane and chase off the tacklers closely followed by Neridah Tanz also in a Hurricane. The gruesome pair are on microwarpdrive and spew death at the smaller ships that are hindering the battleship fleets movement. I send them a silent thank you as I catch up with the fleet.

20:05 Providence fleet start to break and our fleetcommander is screaming for interdictors. There are plenty on the field just not in a condition to bubble anything. The Providence fleet is shattered all over and are being chased down as fleet coercion is lost.

20:08 Providence fleet is chased of the field and we hold it.

20:11 Starbase cyno jammer reengaged and we consider the battle won. Little do we know that Pandemic Legion has decided to come out and play making up for the providence losses. Ushra’Khan support ships are redirected to meet this new threat as the main fleet continue to engage the cyno jammer.

20:18 Providence fleet warp back in again when they see our support has left and round two kicks off.

20:27 The fight lasts full 10 minutes as Providence fleet is chased off again. Primaries are being called and Providence takes one in the face. 10 hostile ships get caught in a bubble that is superbly placed. I have to buy a Rum to that interdictor pilot.

20:30 Back to the cyno jammer and more slugs leave my 425mm which by now are routinely feed by the gunners.

20:41 View of the field of battle as we take down the Cyno jammer

20:44 Cyno jammer goes down. War cries erupt over the internal Ushra’Khan channels.

20:57 We continue on to declawing the Starbase and shortly after we head home. I’m to tired to hit the bar though I can see some heading there.

USHRA’KHAN LEAVE THE FIELD

UNDOCK !

The order came clear over the voice com.

In unison the Ushra’Khan fleet undocked.

Align zxic and initiate warp on my command, Sapphrines voice boomed.

The behemots of destruction slowly turned for the gate.

We were embarking on a journey to an undisclosed location. Destination had been set for HED- and there were general agreement that we would be fighting in the Catch area.

The fleet moved slowly and orderly and reached HED- without incidents. Surprise and bravado erupted when destination was revealed to be Paye. A system located in the Amarr sovereign space where CONCORD also hold jurisdiction. Some pilots uttered regret as they were on the KOS list of the Amarr empire and had to turn back, but they understood the need for secrecy and the late revelation of the target system. The fleet jumped into Keberz when a war target Harbinger were reported in the next system. We jumped a few battleships into the system when we learned he was on the other side of out gate in the hope of pushing him to us. It worked perfect and his ship landed in the middle of 60 battleships and the race started if he would be able to warp out or get locked by the much bigger ships. Just as he was getting to full speed my Megathron locked and released its payload.

As always when so many ships are in an engagement the logs cant follow up with the number of projectiles and the damage inflicted.

The fleet moved on. System after system we moved on with a quick stop in agil to make sure everyone were stocked on ammo.

A fleet is alway a majestic sight but as I started to take note of the differnt ships that made up the composition of our fleet I were if for some surprises.

Some of the ships were expensive and some directly rare. An Apocalypse Navy Issue, piloted by O Thief were mixed with Paladins and even the strange Bhaalgorn Battleship of the Bloodraiders piloted by Lord Makk were part of the fleet.

We finaly arrived at our destination and took in the place where Sylph had desided not to fight. We had hoped that Sylph would meet up for a fight with their mercenaries Privateers.

I dont have any real intel on that Privateers are indeed employed by Sylph but for some reason they declare war every time we declare war on Sylph… I find it less than a coincident.

We landed at the Starbase some distance off to take in the view and consider our options. In my eyes it did not look dangerous at all. But many of our newer pilots are not used to fighting Starbases and as such mistakes can be costly.

We started from the top and worked our way on the modules deployed to defend the Starbase, also called “declawing”. It was less than impressive. But then again the Starbase was never meant to withstand a full force attack but with good gunners it should have been able to do some damage. Sylph does not have good gunners though or at least not anyone interested in defending this Starbase.

Not long after the Starbase was reinforced and the fleet turned for home. We would be back in a day and 16 hours to finish the job.

Little did we know that this was the first uneventful shots fired in what was to turn into a prolonged battle of proportions I have only seen almost a year back…
