OK, finally got around to updating my killboard.

It really took only 10 minutes.

First thing: Backup ! Always backup your stuff.

Create a backup of your database by logging on to you phpmyadmin. And sorry my overview is in danish :(

Select export and choose in the bottom to have it zipped.

For the fun of it (at least that is what I tell myself) I tried exporting in pure text which froze my system for quite some time and resulted in the longest notepad text wall ever.

Zipping on the other hand took only 30 sec. No need to change anything else as default works fine.

Now open a new browser window and download the new database.

Then unpack/unzip it to your desktop.

Go back to your window with phpadmin and start deleting / dumping the datafiles that are contained in your newly downloaded package. Do it one at a time and make sure you dont delete any file that is not included in the new database dump. Double check before deleting !

Now import the new files one at a time.

All imported ?

You are done and ready to post new mails. I know ive promised to look into syndicated kill mails but have not had the time.

Lets see where april leads us.

It finally dawned on me that we have a whole new thing comming with the new patch. The very reason we pay a monthly fee is about to be revealed. The continious update and adding of content to a game we love.

I also dawned on me the that new requirements were about to hit the shelf and my computer is old. For 4 years my old AMD 4000+ has served me well with it’s 2 GB RAM and it’s SLI GeForce 7800.

EvE deserves the best. If for nothing else then due to the insane amount of hours we spend on it. I want to see EvE in all its splendour and so far it has been a stretch to run two clients when doing missions and even fleet battles on a single client. I NEED those missiles to reach out and colour the universe when they hit. The gleaming beams of the Amarr warships and the bursts of the Hybrid and Cannon turrets.

The solution: Monster Intel® Core™ i7

Allow me to introduce you to my new beast of a machine of which I am very proud.

Motherboard:        Gigabyte X58-UD4P motherboard (Intel X58 chipset)
CPU:                      Core i7-920 4×2.66GHz 4,8GT/sec
RAM:                       12 GB DDR3 RAM TriChannel (1333MHz)
Harddisk:              Samsung 1000GB S-ATAII 3Gb/s 32mb cache
Graphix:                 nVidia GeForce GTX295 1792MB
Cache:                   Raidmax Smilodon Miditower LowNoise (Exstra cooling)
PSU:                       750W Gaming Powersupply – supersilent
Sound:                   8 channel HD audio codec ALC889a Dolby (SoundBlaster komp.)
Drive:                      Pioneer DVR-216 DVD-burner +/- Dual layer
Netcard:                 100/1000 Mb/s Realtek 8111 Gigabit LAN

Let the game begin !!!

An IC OOC post I guess…

Ombey is retireing from EvE and are wrapping up his last engagments in the different parts of EvE.

After a good 4 year run he is resigning. Most in EvE have seen his work when they opened his maps and explored the place we call home for so many hours each month. Many have have chatted him up in local and always gotten a friendly reply. A lot has flown with him and known him for the reliable and relaxed person he is. Some has enjoyed his humerous conversations over many hours of fleet OPs.

I count myself lucky to have crossed his path in EvE in what has been a blast of a year.

Fly safe mate.

Wotlankor

Hi all

New post can be found here: http://wotlankor.com/?p=572

All below is outdated…

In my posts I use killboards a lot to depict battles and other observations. Often to underline a statement or go give an idea of an engagement. The killboard has its errors and do not always depict the battles and especially a situation correctly, but they are still a valuable tool. However U’K does not allow for a public killboard which really is a shame as the performance is so much better than most alliances. I understand that a lot of information can be taken from a killboard such as fittings, areas of operation and much more.

In the following I will try to set up a killboard and link it so only my own kills get syndicated. Before embarking do note that I take no responsability for any damages that may incur using any of the programs or instructions in the following. I assume some basic knowledge about uploading and hosting. If you have questions the make a comment and ill try to elaborate as needed. I have not tried this before so the post is typed as I go along and may be updated over a few days depending on my success and failures.

Im not quite sure yet if this will turn into a small collection of guides for out of game use or simply a stand alone post but in any circumstance lets get the show on the road.

First to find a killboard can be hard as the EvE-Dev team that hosts and keep it updated has moved hosts and domains recently and their own Wiki is not of much use. I have now updated the page with a download header and a link now shows. Secondly they dont do a very good job when it comes to the novice. Very confusing if you dont know PHP, MySQL and SVN imports. Why in EvE is there not a link to this information in the “About” page on every Killboard ?

IF THE FOLLOWING IS OF ANY USE PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT AS IT WILL DETERMIN IF I WILL MAKE ADDITIONAL TUTORIALS OR GO BACK TO REGULAR POSTS.

After a good deal of searching I found the actual post on their forum where the killboard link is located.

Get the killboard

http://eve-id.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=503&t=13634

http://svn.nsbit.dk/itemfetch/killboard.tar.gz.php

Download that file to your desktop.

What we end up with is a so called tar.gz file format also called a tarball that can’t be opened straight out of the box.

We need a decompressor.

There are several options and WinZip is the most commonly used. Ive downloaded that trial version a number of times but now I want a more parmanent solution that dont cost me a buck.

I went to http://www.gzip.org and downloaded the powarc61.exe and installed it

Next create a folder on your desktop and named it “kb”.

Run the installation and your tar.gz file now get a nice little icon and you can extract it by double clicking the file and choosing Extract. Choose your desktop and the folder kb to be target destination and click extract in the far right.

In the kb folder you will find the read me text.

This is the EDK – EVE Development Network Killboard v1.4 – Trinity Edition

Requirements:

- Webserver (apache)
- PHP 4.0.9+
- Mysql 3.23.+
- GD 2 or higher

Setup:

- Upload the whole package to a webhost
- Point your webbrowser to /install inside the EDK-Directory
- Follow the instructions
- Don’t forget to delete the install folder after installation or restrict the access to it!
- Have fun ;)

So we need to upload the kb folder to our webhost

I use the plug-in ftp in Firefox called FireFTP but by all means use any ftp program you like or feel comfortable with.

The kb folder is 34 MB large so depending on your connection it will take some time…

Chop, chop lads, go get a nice cup of tea…

Now we should be ready to install but no, trial and error has taught me that we need an updated database as the current version dont take the killmails.

Therefore go here and download the QR package

http://eve-id.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=503&t=13427&start=0

http://eve-files.com/dl/182688

Go your kb directory on your web host

In the folder called Packages (found at yourdomain.com/kb/packages) is a folder called database.

Delete the folder “database”.

Upload the QR package to the folder packages.

A new folder should now be there called database. (yes it has same name as the one we just deleted, but that is what makes it all work)

Ready ?, Well let’s proceed then.

Do not open any webbrowser ! Use Internet Explorer as I have found that to work.

After two days of messing about I switched browser (Im a dedicated FF fan) and everything loaded perfectly.

Go to the url http://www.yoursite.com/yoursubdomain/install

Click Next step

Ohh ohh some file is missing

I copied the file name created a new file with that name and put it in the kb directory and refreshed the browser window.

It even compliments me !!

Click Next Step

Supply the missing info.

You should be able to get that from your ISP or webhost.

Click test

YAY ! That program really likes me !

Click Next Step

Ill be damned some database tables aint created…

Well click the Creating Tables link

There the love stopped ! FAIL FAIL FAIL !!!

But then again not quite. I opted to go for the Importing data (im sure I will need anything I can get my hands on so Ive imported everything). After some trial and error ivefound it is paramount to import. One of them will fail but you will get rid of a lot of the errors I had to begin with.

If you opt to import the data be aware it takes time. Get a new cup of tea.

Now is the time to type in the corp info from your current corporation.

I have typed in Mirkur Draug’Tyr

Im not sure if that is correct but here we go. It is not found in the database but I just create it then.

Next is the general settings for the killboard.

All done and on to the next step !

Next it shows a php scribt which it tells me is perfect. (it likes me again).

HOME SAFE !

Click the “your new killboard link” and go delete the install folder in your /kb directory.

And there we have it !

A brand new killboard is up for me to play with.

Hope you enjoyed this small trip / tutorial. If I get time and feel like it I will make a post about how to syndicate stuff with other killboards and so on. Never tried that either but one simply has to plunge into it all.

See you in space

Wotlankor

Morale is at an all time high !

For two weeks the warriors of Ushra’Khan have successfully defended the tower we originally took from SSI. Many enemies have died within the reach of its turrets. In some wierd twist of events SSI have become their own undoing.

To begin with they were savagely assaulted due to their affiliation with the slavers of CVA and Sylph. Over time their arrogance turned the operation of disrupting their supplylines into a bitter struggle of wills where U’K warriors would simply move in and live in their home system of KW-. I know, as I have spend no less than 3 weeks no further than 2 jumps from KW-.

SSI have had increasingly problems fueling their SOV holding towers in their constellation as U’K stealth bombers have been deployed at each tower as well as multiple small gangs roaming their space. That has caused some of their towers to go offline and it seem the result is that they have started taking them down.

When you unanchor a tower it takes a certain time for it to complete the operation where it is extremely vulnurable as all defences are turned off and only a fleet can protect the industrial assigned with scooping the tower.

The result has been that a number of towers has been ninja hijacked by U’K gangs. Always having a cloaked hauler at the ready running ammo and picking up loot, the opportunity has offered itself for U’K to steal no less than two large Amarr towers and a number of smaller ones.

SSI as a consequence has retreated to their outpost and refuse to commit to battle of any scale and only come out to fuel whatever towers they have left. In order to draw them out we would have to be bold and expose our fleet to the large fleets of CVA and Sylph. The solution was to put up one of the stolen large towers of SSI and challenge their SOV.

In short order U’K erected a deathstar under the fire of CVA and Sylph fleets. For some reason SSI did not contribute to these fleets that set out to help them defend their space.

The onslaught has been great and today we were informed we would face another of same proportions.

The roaring engines of the Megathron came to life as the fleet set out from the system of Utopia and this is where one of the most exciting weeks for me in a long time started.

We all arrived well at the large tower and set up perimeter and got our warp in and warp out spots set up.

Anticipation was high as we expected to be heavily outnumbered but would be fighting with POS gunners on our side near the large tower. Thus the odds might even be slightly in our favor if we performed well and on spot.

The minutes dragged into hours as we came to realise that the fleet reported by our intel was not going to materialize near our small part of space.

A quick survey of opinions resulted in the general attitude that if they would not come to us, we would have to come to them. However our fleet were in no position to fight a much larger fleet in their own backyard and on their terms. So we would have to settle for some general harassment of the station services in KW-

we set out and arrived at the almost too common sight of the KW- station with a drag bubble that would catch traffic to and from both gates and the station. I am at a loss as to the placement of that outpost once again.

We quickly set to work and took down the repair-service like we have done so many times before. It has become second nature that if you are in the KW- system for whatever reason you set your drones on the station services. Its ot like SSI will come out and attack you anyway. They have become quite paranoid in regards to traps.

After the repair-service came the cloning service and while we were at it we might as well take one more service.

Tedious work and it did not draw the response we hoped for. SSI stay docked while their space was violated and their station molested.

After almost two hours of hammering on the station services it looked like nothing more then a heap of metal, not fit for habitation. Of course the inner structures were intact and protected by the station shields but the damages to the services showed everywhere. Flames and gasses vented into the cold space.

I powered down the ship in the next door system of W9- and drifted off while the crew went about their duties of maintaining the huge 425mm Railguns mounted on the sides of the Megathron.

I slowly came to the next day as a signal was coming through. A lone hunter was chasing a sole Megathron through some systems. Apparently it was stabbed with warp core stabilizers and giving the chaser a hard time. He called for damage dealers as more joined the hunt and it became apparent that it was not just a mere Megathron. It was the Navy version. What in EvE was it doing so far from regulated empire space ?

Never mind that, I told myself and informed the crew we would need the 425′s loaded with close-range antimatter slugs and the Ogre II drones ready to deploy for maximum damage.

The hunt was on !

[OOC]This started an over 8 hours long combat cycle so forgive me if I have missed anything or even mix up some events, to the best of my knowledge this is what took place[OOC]

The little bastard was bold enough to come blasting through right under my very nose as he escaped another risky jump with a point being called but for some reason webs had been deployed on him as well so he aligned quickly and warped out.

Two jumps later we corrected that mistake and he got no less than 4 points called on him before the webs ht him with full force. He called out in the local system channel for mercy. “No quarter is asked and none given, sorry” was the harsh reply he got from the pilot simply named as Forty Three.

In short order his magnificent ship was redued to a smoldering wreck.

We devided the loot and I was not really interested in the stuff but for some time I will use the more expensive Federation Navy Antimatter :) .

I also got an escort back to the F4R station that fall under the domain of Against All Authorities (AAA or -A-).

Overseeing the docking procedures I got to the conclusion that more interdictors were needed. All to often prey got away due to having a huge number of warp core stabilizers. I talked to the rest of the warriors and there was general agreement that we could use a Sabre. The Sabre I once was very familiar with and flew it often into combat alongside the fleet of KIA. Interdictors have one of the highest death rates as their armor and shield are frail and they have the most dangerous job of all. To rush over the entire length of a battlefield dodging the space filled with ammunition being shot at insane speeds from both sides of the engagement and then put up a bubble on the hostile fleet, getting out of said bubble and align back. Rinse and repeat as necessary. A dangerous job to be sure, but one I feel the KHAI is suited for.

It took me almost and hour to get the Sabre from empire and back to utopia.

Landing in Sendaya, a scout reports a Sylph tower is being unanchored in the system of A-VILQ with 14 minutes to go.

A quick check on the navigation told me 15+ jumps. I was going to be late almost for sure even if the road was clear all the way. A fleet invitation went out over the alliance coms asking to sync the ships up. I reported in and was scouted into Doril where I set off in a frantic chase towards the A-VILQ system.

Click here for large size map.

In order to understand the following movements I advise to keep the map open and refer to it.

The star charts bloomed and showed the number of active pilots, but were inaccurate as they keep records for 30 minutes. That results in that the number of ships in each system is way too high but it still makes for an amazing sight when a dispersed fleet in on the move to a location.

Over the alliance coms I could hear battle starting when I was still 10 jumps out and the FC called for an interdictor. I reported that I was still 9 jumps out but en route. In GE- system I was greeted by the chippering of ny navigational warning signal as multiple reds were jumping in, but they were not organised yet and I slipped through together with a covert hauler.

We made it as far as the CB4- gate in EX- where we had to pause as a hostile taranis and 2 other ships held the gate and more reported on the other side.

We waited for 3 maybe 4 minutes but it seemed an eternity. Especially with the war sounds booming over the NeoCom. Its a heightened state of mind where the heart races and all you think about is to enter the struggle next to your comrades in arms, but the smallest remains of logic tells you to hold back so you can join the fight and do some good instead of dying 2 jumps from the actual battle.

The Taranis and his mates left into CB4- and only 15 seconds later the gate was called clear and I warped in. Fighting and skirmishes had broken out in multiple systems now.

Sylph is jumping in reinforcement by their jumpbridge system and U’K pilots drip in one at a time to enter the fray.

19:50 sees the first blood drawn in struggle that will end many hours later.
Sylph looses the following ships in A-VILQ to a 12 man gang that snatch the unanchored tower
Dominix, Battleship
Prorator, Transport
Myrmidon, Battlecruiser
Megathron, Battleship
Falcon, Recon ship

At the same time as the last hostile dies I jump in to system and take up position on the N-8BZ6 gate in A-VILQ with 4 other ships. Managing to keep Sylph locked out Meera has for unknown reasons jumped into X3FQ-W where I am unsure if there also is a jumpbridge of Sylphs. None the less she reports a Rorqual on scan and drop a probe.

I headed for the gate of X3FQ-W and is shortly joined by the rest as we scoop the tower.

30 seconds later Meeras frantic voice sounds over the FleetCom. “Point, point, I got him, his drones will tear me apart, jump and warp to me now.” We all jumped and initiate warp. My ship being one of the faster ones to align come out of warp and landed me a mere 3 km of the huge industrial ship.

Quickly I launched a warp disrupting probe that shuts down the warp cores of the large ship and render it motionless. For some odd reason this huge bulk of metal is in a PLEX, a deadspace where Sanshas pirates are happily attacking away on it and don’t mind that we also start to pick on their prey.

While we signed the death sentence of the beast a KIA gang were reported around Utopia/F4R as well as a Paxton Federation gang that had landed in GE-94X. The Rorqual resulted in a 2 billion isk epic firework !

As we wrapped up the dead Rorqual and moved out we decided to split our relative small gang. Some wanted to cause more mayhem and others to head for the bars of F4R.

We decided to call in reinforcements to break the GE-94X camp that now consist of Sylph ships and some auxiliary troops. We bait them with U’K ships while AAA jump them from the other side of the gate.

A U’K HAC had to bite the dust but the result is a win with 10 kills, as the much heavier fleet supported by frigates take one in the teeth.

While this takes place our small contingent of ships move further into Sylph space while there is general joking of where we shall deploy the tower we just stole.

Getting closer to Sylph main systems we encounter a Megathron that is bubbled and promptly killed. This sparks a 5 hour roam into Sylph territory where we almost unencountered pick of the ratters and prey on their weaker pilots.

After the initial 2 hours they do however get the idea and start putting up some sort of organized opposition.

We set up camp in the BR- system on the IS- gate and deploy bubbles between the gates and the station. Like spiders we wait and strike without mercy at the Sylph ships.

A Raven is reported in IS- and I go through and bubble him but he has smartbombs that destroy my probe and he then warps off unharmed to my annoyance. I was so sure I had him.

We go back and sit on the IS- gate. This Raven is bound to comeback and show his arrogance and next time we will not be some forgiving and I will not deploy the probe so close to him. He is going to go down.

After 10minutes a Drake is reported tackled in IS- and we race there once more. The poor sod thought it safe to hunt pirates in the asteroid belts with a 12 man gang next door and a red in local.

We soon taught him the error of his way as he meekly called for help over the local channels. We were gone as fast as we had killed the poor soul.

Back in BR- I took time to take in the view of this very pretty system. The sky has such a great color composition and I wondered to myself when it was the last time I had beheld the beauty of the universe. I knew the answer was right before I joined U’K and was underway of leaving Ore Mongers.

I wonder if anyone else but me stop every once in a while and just sit and take it all in ?

I toyed with my camera drones to make time go and got some great shots of our small camp at the gate.

Reports tickled in that our tower in GMLH-K was under attack from something as odd as a frigate gang.

We smiled as the first losses of their fleet tickled in and it was not long before the enemy gave up their half hearted attempt to attack the deathstar.

We got a few more kills as the night drew on and a new day dawned but Sylph had had enough.

Something had to be done to these defiant freedom fighters and a fleet was being assembled in ERVK-P.

We were 20 U’K pilots in BR- with 12-14 active pilots at any given time. The Sylph fleet was composed of roughly 10 battleships 20 assorted BC to cruiser sized ships with heavy interdictor support. They also had some 20 pilots in BR- and 25 more in IS-. We cant only assume that most of them were docked and inactive.

The odds did not look good. But U’K is known for fighting against the odds and 2:1 is considered ok odds. But we needed a plan.

We would not jump into the camp they had set up in ERVK-P on the BR- gate, and after a while Sylph seemed to realise that as well. They, being the numerical superior, would have to come to us. Clearly a proposition that frustrated them to no end.

We came up with a 3 bubble solution that would cover their gates as well as their jumpbridges and I was put roughly 200 km above the station in order to warp in on anyone landing in any of the 3 bubbles.

Together with the interceptors I was also one of the few not able to cloak up.

We did not have to wait long before the local system number swelled and I could feel that this did indeed look like bleak odds.

I open up my directional scanner and saw nothing. I periodically scanned every 10-20 sec and all of a sudden it exploded in a festivity of ships.

“Incoming, Incoming” I called.

"Get ready, draw them out, keep your transversal up and don’t get killed" the FC called.

They landed in the top right bubble and I activated my microwarpdrive homing in like a missile on their position.

Alarms started chirping as I was lit up by multiple hostiles but they did not open fire and focused on the Vagabonds instead and I launched my bubble on top of half their fleet which caused them some panic as no one likes to find themselves in a bubble. Coming out clean I turned around and got back on top of the station. A lone Crow had seen me and headed in my direction. The gang disengaged and pulled back, getting ready for a second onslaught.

We had killed a Hugging and a Rupture at the expense of a Taranis. So far so good.

We had also managed to get their fleet spread out over the entire space but so was our own forces.

We went in for a second round, screaming defiance over the FleetComs and engaging the enemy fleet.

"NEUT" was all Xennith could yell before the Vagabond exploded, everything from there on went horribly wrong.

My bubble deployed but our forces was chased off and the bubble hung there in space to no use at all. We took losses of two more Vagabonds and I called that we were not focused and should retreat.

FC agreed and called the rest off. I barely made it out as I was down low and running with two ceptors in hot pursuit. They had me locked at were spewing slugs at me but I was free to warp out.

Lord Makk in his Cerberus was down to 30% hull and we decided enough was enough and limped off.

I was still high from the fighting when I powered down the ship in BR- at a safe location some 20 minutes later when my electronics no longer emitted combat signals.

All in all this concluded one of the most exiting roams ever. These small organized gangs are not afraid to take on fleets 3 times their size and dont shrink in the face of danger. Not even in KIA, in large fleet battles has I felt anything so intense. Ive only dipped my toes and cant wait to have more of it.

I let my fingers run over what used to be smooth metal. It felt cold and my fingers almost stuck to the rusty metal. It was time for a break from the Wolf. Well beaten up after a lot of battles I parked it in a station in the Utopia system and instructed the mechanics to get it in propper working condition.

My NeoCom buzzed.

Looking down I saw that I was needed in what has been named the KW- pipe. That is the systems leading up to the KW- system inhabitet by SSI alliance. A bit annoyed that the Wolf was not ready I ordered my Vagabond prepared.

Running diagnostics as I undocked everything lit up green and I hooked up with the operation chief of the area.

I was assigned guard duty in the system of W9-DID, orders to patrol, monitor and intercept. SSI will never fully comprehend the dedication that U’K throw into their efforts of fighting for freedom.

Arriving well in the system I cloaked up my Vagabond and allowed the crew to stand down.

Slumbering in the pod a picture of the captain conjured as he hailed me.

“Yes ?”, I asked

“Sir, we have come across an anomality of sort”

“A what?”

“..an anomality”

“You mean some sort of deadspace or complex?”

“No Sir, more like a canister anomality..”

He made no sense so I powered up the powerfull radar of the ship and did a 360 degree scan.

“PLING!”, A lot of small standard containers showed up. A LOT !

Interfacing with the ships sensors I quickly arrived at a 5 degree scan angle. I checked the system map for a nearby celestial object but I was at the nearest it seemed. That could only mean that a random bookmark had been made and the cans placed there for a reason.

My interest was spiked and I manipulated the scanner to get an approximate range to the cans. 10.000 km… ohh my…

Vaga going 3-4 km pr sec, that amounted to 40 minutes of flight time. That was if the vaga could maintain a steady speed, which I was quite aware it could not and especially not at that speed. I’ll be damned…

What the hell, ill go for it I thought and fired up the engines.

After what seemed an eterinty I was getting closer and could see an end to the chase. “Only” 5800 km left…

almost there…

All off a suden my overview sprung to life as my camera drones could pick out the cans. I homed in on one of them and warped the last few hundred kilometers as I speculated on the riches that the cans must contain. The hidden SSI treasure that allowed them to fly such expensive ships ?

What in EvE was that ???

The cans was all empty, or after checking 10 or so at random spots that was the conclusion.

Some freak of nature had spend the better part of his insignificant life setting up a statement dedicated to, what I can only assume, must be a woman. Only a mentally ill person or someone in love would set up such a display 10.000 km from the nearest celestial object. And only a equally stupid person would spend the time to find out what that “Anomality” could be…

I had really hoped it was some sort of  spot where SSI or Sylph dumped loot and minerals.

I powered down the vagabond, and drifted off amused and disappointed at the same time.

I called up Ombey and it seems he has gotten himself into the freedom fighting so close to the hearth of every Matar. He hinted that his corporation was in need of experienced pilots to take part in covert operations and raids.

I made a few checks and it seems that White Core is in good standing with Mirkur Draug’Tyr (ohh these exotic Minmatar names). This mean joining up will provide a multitude of benefits.

1) I get back to the south where I can hunt Sansha’s which by far is my favorite bounty prey.

2) I can get back in my Buzzard, scan ships down, gather intelligence and be a general nuisance.

3) I can hook up with Qrell, who for some reason has gotten him self involved in the Minmatar cause on the Minmatar side. Being Qrell I can’t say I’m surprised. I remember with fondness when I got him his first Abaddon, which he promtly 3 days later lost to a raid party not even fully fitted, back when we both were in FM-C.

4) I will have the honor and priviledge of flying with Ombey again. Who knows what our combined Vagabonds damage output can wreck of havoc…

I will have to hit up the leader of this corporation, a fellow named Zoolkhan (ohh again these exotic Minmatar names).

Juturna’s engines are ready, my ships are being gatered and all I have to do is plot a course if this talk goes according to plan. I belive I can be down south by the start of next week if all goes well.

How will the Minmatar freedom fighters take to having a mercenary in their midst…

I always use one of Ombeys maps, next to the computer for easy reference or have the pdf open in the background for when I navigate the different regions.

Remember to update your 2D map !

I will see if I can gather different navigational links in one post and comment on thier strength and weaknesses.

The pictures: Walking in stations

It is nothing short of amazing. I am however not sure this is where EvE should be heading.

The avatars will take a great deal of the focus from the actual spaceship game. Also there is a lot of sexual undertones that is part of the EvE universe, but I don’t think it should be played out. At least not that explicit. I believe we will see a lot of new “players” that like to play “Dress up EvE”.

Basically it is the same that Second Life suffered from. It went from a meeting platform where you could walk around and enjoy a chat to a place where people in anonymity could live out their fantasies. Probably a great business but not one I condone.

CCP will have to do a delicate dance to make this work, not just from a graphical perspective but from a “this is a game, not a dress up club” perspective as well.

When all that is said, who else want to see some more of the girls turn around ?

- I sure do, but on the other hand, where does that take me and make me ?

- Is the innocence of gaming over ?

Lately I have been extremely pleased with my new little bird the Ishkur. It handles well, tanks well and deal damage to unsuspecting ships in an inferno of drones and blaster slugs.

Ive been patrolling the same systems and beholding the same gate over and over. Ive found this specific spot, where the sun plays under a nearby station, that I enjoy.

A decision has been reached. I will leave the Ore Mongers behind me. They should not harbor a discontent corporate member and in all fairness have been good corp mates though the period I have been in Ore Mongers. The period have been one in turmoil due to moving to Venal only to move back to unregulated low security space and much time has been spend moving back and forth. Not the ideal time to take in new people, but they did not plan for this.

The choise was made and I promtly send my CEO a note of resignation as there were no need to hold it up. He was a bit baffled by my sudden resignation but took it cool and wished me luck in my future endavors.

A mercenary is what I over time have become and what I am, and although some do not think piracy a proffession unrelated to my own it is by far not the same . A mercenary sells his service to the highest bidder and often fight against the odds, where pirates chose targets of opertunity and prey on the weak. Not an all fair comparison as I also know pirates that fight against overwhelming odds. It is however time to face this fact that I am a mercenary and not a pirate.

But how does one go about offering the service of a single pilot?

I pondered this and other questions as I loaded up my trusty old megathron that now is fitted with close range and high damage blasters. Huge things that can propel the munition a short distance but at extreme velocity. Coupled with an extreme double repairing ability it is a monster to be reckoned with.

I had not even made 5 jumps before I was contacted by Qrell of White Core. White Core is made up by elements of my former corporation FM-C and led by Large Shadow who helped me get my stuff out of stain when I left FM-C.

Qrell offered me employment on the spot but for some reason I was hessitant. The idea of joining as large an alliance as White Core for some reason did not appeal to me. On the other hand I would love to fly with Qrell again.

For the moment I am looking around and talking to old and new friends to see what stirs. Maybe call up Ombey to hear what he is up to. Its time to top off the tank and head into space…
